Happiness is not a one-time happening, it is a lifestyle that needs to be constant for mental and physical wellbeing. Showing gratitude in life is very important. To make the habit more concrete and effective keep a journal in which you can record your gratitude and revisit it daily. Make it a routine to add at least two blessings you are thankful to have. This practice will gradually decrease the ratio of complaints you have from life and will make you able to appreciate what you have. The habit of gratitude will increase the satisfaction level of life and when you are thankful to what you have you are more likely to focus on achieving your real goals instead of materialistic things.
Make meditation necessary
Another way to increase happiness in life is to make meditation a habit. Meditate daily for fifteen minutes and allow yourself to focus on your inner-self in these fifteen minutes. Meditation increases the ability to focus hence making the outcomes of your work good that can also be a source of contentment. Moreover, meditation itself is a source of relaxation of mind and body making them ready for the tasks of the day. The best time to meditate is early in the morning or right before sleeping so that when you are ready to face the challenges if the day, you are in a positive state of mind.
Stay active
Stay active and exercise daily to have a healthy body and life. Exercise not only helps you to look good it also make the brain release hormones that cause relaxation and happiness. The effects of fifteen to thirty minutes of exercise are equal to a dose of antidepressant but the results are healthier, better and long lasting.
Encourage others
This might seem a bit strange practice but you have to believe that it can do wonders in uplifting your moods and general attitude. Happiness can be contagious and when you make an effort to make others happy, it will make you happy. As a practice or exercise, all you have to do is to message or verbally praise one person each day for almost twenty days and gradually you will develop a habit of doing so.
Make a connection with nature
Spend at least half an hour in a park or a garden any other pace that can provide a natural environment daily. Take deep breaths and enjoy the natural beauty the surroundings have to offer. Breathing near plants and spending time close to nature will gradually start making you feel relaxed and doing it daily will have long term effects on your mental and physical health, keeping you happy at all times.
